An exceptional and rare example of a Navajo Native American c. 1940s squash blossom necklace, which is made of tufa cast elements with hand cut and buffed natural turquoise, possibly Cerrillos, and hand made beads. The form is unusual and has a good, balanced, aesthetic. The Naja is 3" x 2" with four pieces of turquoise and the blossoms contain a matching cast element to the Naja with graduated pieces of matching turquoise. The turquoise is lovely and all from the same mine, was probably blue at the start but has been turning more green with time, which makes it particularly attractive. The hand made beads are approximately 8mm in size, some smaller, some larger. The necklace is strung on foxtail chain, which is the strongest and most flexible option, my favorite. There are twelve blossoms and a hand made hook and eye closure.
Condition is excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. Consistent with the age it is not signed by the artist or for silver content but it is at least coin silver at.
